IV Therapy & Wellness Infusions

Hydration. Recovery. Optimization.

Your body depends on fluids, electrolytes, vitamins, and essential nutrients to support normal cellular function, hydration, metabolism, and recovery.

At PRO Sports Medicine, we offer medically supervised intravenous therapies designed around your individual needs, clinical history, and wellness goals.

A PERSONALIZED APPROACH

More Than Just an IV Drip

IV therapy is often marketed as a quick solution for fatigue, dehydration, immune function, athletic recovery, and overall wellness.

But not every patient needs the same ingredients, the same volume of fluid, or even an IV at all.

Intravenous administration allows fluids and selected nutrients to enter directly into the circulation without first passing through gastrointestinal absorption. This can be particularly useful when oral hydration or supplementation is insufficient, poorly tolerated, or medically inappropriate.

However, more vitamins do not automatically mean better health. The clinical value of each infusion depends on the patient, the formulation, and the specific reason it is being administered.

Our philosophy is to use IV therapy selectively and appropriately rather than assuming every patient benefits from the same formula.

AVAILABLE TREATMENT CATEGORIES

Explore Our IV Therapy Services

We offer several categories of IV therapy. Formulations and ingredient availability may vary, and all treatments are subject to medical screening and provider approval.

01 / HYDRATION

IV Hydration & Electrolytes

Maintaining proper hydration is essential for cardiovascular function, temperature regulation, muscle function, and overall physical performance.

When clinically indicated, IV fluids can provide controlled fluid replacement for patients who cannot adequately rehydrate orally or have documented volume depletion.

Fluid type and volume are individualized based on symptoms, medical history, and safety considerations.

02 / MICRONUTRIENTS

Vitamin & Nutrient Infusions

Vitamins and micronutrients participate in normal energy metabolism, neurologic signaling, red blood cell formation, and other essential physiologic processes.

Depending on clinical indications, selected formulations may contain B vitamins, vitamin C, magnesium, or other compatible ingredients.

We evaluate whether IV replacement offers a meaningful advantage over oral supplementation.

03 / CELLULAR HEALTH

NAD+ Infusions

Nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide (NAD+) is a coenzyme involved in cellular metabolism, mitochondrial function, and numerous biochemical reactions.

NAD+ has attracted interest in longevity, cellular energy, and recovery medicine.

Research on intravenous NAD+ for general wellness remains limited, and clinical benefits have not been firmly established.

We discuss these limitations as part of informed treatment decisions.

04 / OXIDATIVE BALANCE

Antioxidant Support

Antioxidant systems play an important role in maintaining cellular redox balance and protecting cells from excessive oxidative stress.

Selected infusion options may include ingredients such as glutathione or vitamin C when medically appropriate.

Routine antioxidant infusion has not been established as a way to prevent disease, enhance longevity, or accelerate tissue healing in otherwise healthy individuals.

05 / ACTIVE LIFESTYLES

Performance & Recovery Support

Training, competition, heat exposure, and demanding schedules can influence hydration and recovery requirements.

We assess hydration status, nutritional intake, training demands, and relevant medical factors before considering IV intervention.

IV therapy is not a replacement for nutrition, adequate sleep, structured training, or normal post-exercise recovery strategies.

06 / INDIVIDUALIZED CARE

Customized IV Formulations

Different patients may have different medical indications, nutrient requirements, tolerances, and treatment goals.

When appropriate, we can evaluate individualized infusion options based on clinical findings, laboratory results, and formulation compatibility.

Ingredient selection, dosing, and administration are determined by clinical appropriateness, not simply by adding more ingredients.

UNDERSTANDING THE DIFFERENCE

IV Hydration vs. Oral Hydration

For most healthy individuals experiencing routine thirst, exercise-related fluid loss, or mild dehydration, drinking fluids and replacing electrolytes orally is both effective and preferable.

Intravenous hydration becomes more relevant when oral intake is inadequate or impractical, or when the patient's clinical condition requires supervised fluid administration.

IV fluids do not automatically provide superior athletic recovery or performance compared with appropriate oral hydration in otherwise healthy people.

Our goal is to select the most appropriate treatment, not to recommend an IV when a simpler option would work equally well.

Factors We Consider

  • Current hydration status and oral intake
  • Recent fluid losses and heat exposure
  • Symptoms and vital signs
  • Electrolyte abnormalities when relevant
  • Kidney and cardiovascular history
  • Current medications and supplements
  • Previous reactions to IV therapy
  • Individual treatment goals

Severe dehydration, altered mental status, significant electrolyte disorders, or other concerning symptoms may require emergency department evaluation rather than elective outpatient infusion.

CELLULAR ENERGY & METABOLISM

Understanding NAD+ Therapy

NAD+ is fundamental to normal cellular function. But understanding an important biochemical molecule is different from proving that infusing it improves human health.

What Does NAD+ Do?

NAD+ participates in numerous reactions throughout the body, particularly those involving cellular energy production and oxidation-reduction processes.

It also serves as a substrate for enzymes involved in cellular stress responses, DNA-related signaling, and metabolic regulation.

NAD metabolism changes with aging and disease, making it an active area of research.

What Has Research Established?

Although NAD biology is well established, high-quality human evidence supporting intravenous NAD+ for fatigue, athletic performance, anti-aging, addiction, or cognitive enhancement remains insufficient.

Increasing NAD exposure does not necessarily translate into measurable clinical improvement.

Patients should understand that many wellness applications remain investigational rather than established standards of medical care.

NAD+ infusions may cause nausea, abdominal discomfort, flushing, chest discomfort, or other infusion-related symptoms. Appropriate patient selection and careful administration are important.

KNOW WHAT YOU ARE RECEIVING

Vitamins, Minerals & Antioxidants

Different ingredients perform different physiologic functions. The presence of an ingredient in an IV infusion does not by itself establish a clinical benefit.

B-Complex Vitamins & B12

B vitamins support normal nervous system function, energy metabolism, and blood cell production.

Replacement is most meaningful when a deficiency, malabsorption, or another clinical indication exists.

Additional B12 does not reliably increase energy in patients who already have adequate B12 status.

Vitamin C

Vitamin C contributes to collagen synthesis, antioxidant defense, and normal immune function.

Intravenous vitamin C can produce concentrations above those attainable orally, but this does not establish that high-dose infusion improves wellness or recovery.

Kidney function, kidney stone history, G6PD status when relevant, and other risks must be considered.

Magnesium

Magnesium plays important roles in neuromuscular function, cardiac conduction, and numerous enzyme systems.

IV magnesium is used for specific medical indications, including certain deficiency states.

Unnecessary supplementation may produce low blood pressure or other complications, particularly in patients with impaired kidney function.

Glutathione

Glutathione is an endogenous antioxidant involved in cellular redox regulation.

Although widely promoted for detoxification, skin health, and recovery, robust evidence supporting routine IV glutathione for these wellness objectives is lacking.

Use requires attention to formulation, source, route, and adverse effects.

OUR CLINICAL PHILOSOPHY

Treat the Patient, Not the IV Menu

More fluid is not always better. More vitamins are not always better. And the most expensive infusion is not necessarily the most appropriate.

The right intervention is the one supported by your health status, clinical needs, and the available evidence.

CONNECTED HEALTHCARE

IV Therapy Within a Broader Wellness Plan

One advantage of receiving IV services through a sports medicine and wellness practice is the ability to consider the patient's larger clinical picture.

Hydration, nutrition, exercise, sleep, body composition, metabolic health, and recovery all influence how patients feel and function.

When appropriate, we can evaluate IV services alongside other components of care.

Sports Medicine & Recovery

Review training demands, activity levels, hydration habits, injuries, and recovery strategies.

Laboratory Evaluation

Identify potential deficiencies, metabolic abnormalities, and other medical factors before recommending unnecessary supplementation.

PRO Foundations

Connect nutritional strategies, body composition monitoring, hydration practices, and wellness planning with individualized clinical oversight.

WHAT TO EXPECT

Your IV Therapy Experience

We prioritize appropriate screening, clear education, and monitored administration.

1

Initial Assessment

We review your health history, medications, allergies, symptoms, and treatment goals.

2

Treatment Selection

A clinician determines whether IV therapy is appropriate and selects the formulation, dose, and fluid volume.

3

Administration

IV access is established, and the infusion is administered by appropriately trained clinical personnel with monitoring.

4

Follow-Up

We review tolerance, response, and whether continued treatment offers an appropriate clinical benefit.

PATIENT SAFETY

IV Therapy Is a Medical Procedure

Even common fluids, vitamins, and nutrients can cause adverse effects when administered intravenously.

Potential complications include bruising, local irritation, infection, infiltration, inflammation of the vein, allergic reactions, electrolyte abnormalities, and complications related to excessive fluid administration.

Patients with certain cardiac, kidney, metabolic, or other medical conditions may require modified treatment or may not be appropriate candidates for elective IV infusion.

We do not recommend IV therapy as a replacement for emergency medical evaluation, established medical treatment, or evidence-based management of underlying disease.

Before Your Appointment

  • Provide an accurate medication and allergy list.
  • Report heart or kidney disease.
  • Disclose pregnancy or breastfeeding.
  • Discuss any history of infusion reactions.
  • Report current symptoms or recent illness.
  • Ask about expected treatment duration.
  • Clarify ingredient-specific risks and benefits.

Treatments are provided only when approved by the supervising clinician. An infusion may be declined or postponed when safety concerns are identified.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Common Questions About IV Therapy

Is IV therapy better than taking vitamins orally?

Not necessarily. Oral supplementation is usually sufficient when gastrointestinal absorption is normal and the patient can tolerate it. IV therapy may be useful for specific deficiencies, absorption problems, or medical indications, but bypassing digestion does not automatically improve outcomes.

Can IV therapy improve athletic performance?

Correcting clinically significant dehydration or a documented deficiency may help restore normal function. Evidence does not establish that routine IV hydration or vitamin infusions improve athletic performance in otherwise healthy, adequately hydrated individuals.

How often should I receive an IV infusion?

There is no universal schedule. Frequency depends on the medical indication, formulation, clinical response, and safety considerations. Routine weekly or monthly infusions are not automatically necessary or beneficial.

Do I need laboratory testing first?

Not every patient requires laboratory testing before a standard infusion. However, certain ingredients, higher doses, medical conditions, or recurring treatments may warrant evaluation of kidney function, electrolytes, blood counts, nutrient levels, or other relevant markers.

How long does an IV appointment take?

Appointment duration depends on the infusion volume, ingredients, prescribed administration rate, and individual tolerance. Some treatments are relatively short, while others require extended administration and monitoring.

Does insurance cover IV wellness therapy?

Elective wellness infusions are generally self-pay services. Medically necessary IV treatments may have different coverage considerations depending on the indication, payer, and benefit plan. Coverage should not be assumed.

Is NAD+ therapy proven to reverse aging?

No. NAD+ has important biologic functions, and NAD metabolism is an active area of research, but intravenous NAD+ has not been demonstrated to reverse human aging. We explain the experimental nature of many NAD+ wellness applications before treatment.

Can treatment be customized?

Treatment recommendations can be individualized when compatible formulations and ingredients are available. Customization requires consideration of medical necessity, product compatibility, dosing, and patient safety.
